Neue Virendatenbank-Version 10 für Windows-Produkte
Die neuesten Produkt-Versionen von VirusBuster Professional, VirusBuster für Windows-Server und Central Management Solution sind nun veröffentlicht worden.

We are happy to inform our customers, that the latest versions of VirusBuster's Windows products have been published.

The new versions are using our latest anti-virus engine, which utilizes the version 10.x.x virus database, which replaces the version 9.x.x virus database. The new anti-virus engine uses less resources and produces much better detection rates with a higher performance.

These new product versions are now only available on a separate update source as we have already written in a previous newsletter, but probably in the middle of June (on 16th) all VirusBuster users who did not change the update source previously will receive these new product versions automatically.

We would also like to inform you, that the support of the version 9.x.x virus database will be ceased in 6 months, so if you don't have automatic product updates turned on, please update your products. On the part of those Windows users, who have automatic product updates turned on (this function is turned on by default after installation), no action is required, the latest product versions containing the new engine will be downloaded automatically next week.

The latest product versions contain the following major changes:

VirusBuster Professional/for Windows Servers:

- New, improved virus scanning engine

- Previously there was a problem when updating with a user, which had lower priviliges, which has been fixed.

- Information displayed during activation hase been expanded and modified, so that users can get clear information about the results of the activation.

- Fixed compatibility issues with the content filter and the Opera browser

- Fixed a problem, where the content filter did not let Office files to be opened in Outlook

- Other content filter fixes, which solve problems encountered during browsing the Internet

- Revamped password control in case of scheduled tasks, as previously it was not evident which user types needed a password

- The database version was not properly displayed in the log in some cases, the problem has been fixes.

- The scheduled updates in case of Novell NetWare sources were not successful due to user authentication problems, which have been fixed.

VirusBuster Central Management Solution:

- CMS now uses a new method to check the online and offline status of managed computers, and now provides more up to date and more reliable information about these computers.

- The assignment of computers in case of larger volumes was not quick enough, this has been greatly improved.

- CMS reinstalled all installed products on managed computers even when it was not necessary in some cases, the problem has been fixed.

- In some case the list of products which can be installed on managed computers was not displayed, this has been fixed.

- The subCMS menu now contains a new option: "Full replication", which will replicate all assigned computers to the subCMS at the next replication

- Several fixes involving the MMC interface which solve stability problems which occured when using the interface

- Fixes involving tasks sent to managed computers, which solve problems encountered during sending tasks to clients and running with the proper user priviliges.

- New option in the subCMS menu: "Check installed products", which checks all installed product versions on the subCMS.

- The HTML management report has been modified and now provides more detailed information about managed computers, which have problems

- New log entry, which warns the you if your are trying to install on a computer, on which the specified user does not have sufficent privileges.

- Fixes for SQL compatibility issues for CMS products running on SQL servers

- The assignment and reassignment of managed computers was not always done properly, this has been fixed

- In some case after having used the interface for a long time, icons in the machine list have disappeared, this is now fixed.
