The 25th "Virus Bulletin 100%" ("VB100") award for VirusBuster
VirusBuster Professional successfully passed the Virus Bulletin's newest, 2008 November test under Windows Vista x64 platform
VirusBuster Ltd's VirusBuster Professional v6.0, like several times earlier, won another "Virus Bulletin 100%" ("VB100") award again after successfully passing the 2008 November test series. This is was the 25th occasion for the company to acquire the prestigious certification.
The final VB100 of the year was run by experts of Virus Bulletin http://www.virusbtn.com/] on the 64-bit edition of Microsoft’s Windows Vista with minor upgrades in the test system. However a sizeable chunk of new software was added to the clean set, and the Trojan set used in the previous test was retired and replaced entirely with samples gathered in the last three months.
The VB100 team plans to introduce the same pattern of replenishment with fresh samples for the other test sets in time for the next review, along with some entirely new sets. The WildList set changes since the previous set included the addition of flood of online gaming password-stealers, and the retirement of some older material.
In order to win the award, the product tested must detect all in the wild (ITW) viruses during both on-demand and on-access scanning, but must not generate any false positives when scanning a set of clean files. VirusBuster Professional v6.0 successfully met all of these high expectations. The independent test organization examined 25 anti-viral products. The November test has been notable for the more than usually high number of passes - indeed only two products failed from the 25 participants to meet the required standard.
The VB100 team announced, that they cooperate with groups like AMTSO[http://www.amtso.org/] - with Gábor Szappanos, the head of VirusBuster Ltd's Viruslab among AMTSO's board members -, expert advisory board of testers and other interested parties, they will continue to investigate and develop new testing methodologies, and even new certification chemes, that will enable them to more accurately evaluate the products’ full capabilities in the next year.
